I live and work in two worlds, one is composing music in a variety of styles and genres and the other is using my design thinking to create online experiences, improve human interaction with technology and product development. I am driven by challenges and working with companies and people who want to make a difference in the social world through music and technology.

My focus is on creating and developing ideas (ideation), into products (large scale web based platforms, web and mobile apps). Developing and integrating social media and gamification strategies through solid experience design.

I am also a fortunate husband, proud father and pet for 3 dogs.

Here is a sampling of some things I have done and areas of industry I have worked in.

  • Studied music theory/composition and ethnomusicology, later completing a degree in multimedia design and computer animation
  • Commissioned to compose for the dance departments of Creighton University and University of Nebraska at Omaha
  • Lived in Japan for over 4 years both as a student (ethnomusicology) and teacher (music theory) and received several commissions for compositions for Miyagi Kai
  • Worked on SGI Workstations running Alias Power Animator (now known as Maya) as a texture and environment designer for 3D stereoscopic animations for large scale corporate presentations
  • Project Manager for Macmillan/McGraw-Hill for a collegiate level book (Computers in Your Future) delivered on CD ROM using multimedia that was sold and distributed throughout universities across the U.S.
  • Consulting Manager for GTE Internetworking designing and building an intranet for the Global Network Infrastructure
  • Lead the UX |UI design|development for Synergy, an in house promotion/transaction/processing web application for Parago
  • Lead the UX |UI design|development on PROP (Parago Reward Ordering Portal) a portal for ordering B2B Visa Prepaid Cards for Parago
  • Designed and developed an iPhone app on iTunes called ‘Kill Buddha’ (discontinued)
  • Social Media Strategist and Consultant for The Ochre House Theater
  • Beta tester and consultant on UX design and Usability for several mobile apps (under NDA)
  • Designed this site based on WordPress and Standard Theme

 

 

Why ManFromTexas?

This started way back when it was scary to use your real name on the internet so I came up with ManFromTexas as a name and it became something that just seem to stick. Don’t take it all too seriously.
